Content Management Systems (CMS)

A content management system is a great way to update your website quickly and easily with new copy text or images.

Updating a static website usually meant involving your web designers, resulting in an invoice and a long turn around time. At JC Peters we believe that to really get the most out of your website as a valid marketing portal for your business, it is vital that the site can be updated quickly and easily.

If you decide to add a content management system (CMS) to your site, the team at JC Peters will write from scratch a user friendly portal allowing you to add/edit or delete any text on your site immediately in real time.

The site would an admin panel, allowing access to the update system via a secure login. Once inside you will have the option to browse the text on each page, making changes where ever appropriate. Text can be edited using the same familiar functionality and commands used in Microsoft word and similar word processing packages. Once your changes have been completed, you simply hit ‘submit’ and all changes will be sent to the site available for public viewing.

With a Content Management System you will also be able to add/edit or delete images to the website via an image uploader. This system will prompt you to browse your hard drive to select the required image, hit ‘submit’ and it will be uploaded to the site library system. Once in the library you can then select the image and us on any page as required.

As well as offering complete control and flexibility over your site, a CMS system will also greatly increase your chances of achieving and holding a good page index with the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, AOL, Alta Vista, MSN and Bing. When a search engine indexes a website, it returns at regular periods looking for changes, if text content is not changed on a regular basis the search engine robot will see the site as old or even abandoned. If the site is noted as inactive by the search engine robot - it may start to drop down the page rankings for the desired keyword.

In summary a CMS is vital to help make sure that your website is relevant and at the very center of your company’s brand communications.
